The Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Maharashtra has undertaken collaborative work with TISS for providing technical support towards setting up and operationalising a unit within the said Department, for monitoring & capacity-support to the Protection system and all stakeholders for effective implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Given the history and experience of implementation & monitoring/supervision of Special Cells for Women & Children Scheme/programme of the State Government since 2005, TISS has undertaken the task of setting up a Violence against Women ("VAW") Cell within the office of the Commisioner of Women and Child Department, Government of Maharashtra. 1 female Programme Officer (having prior direct intervention work experience) is required for supporting the setting up and operationalising of the VAW Cell at the Commisionerate of Women and Child , Pune. 1. 1. Education and Experience criteria: Candidate should have (a) knowledge of issues of gender & violence against women and interventions in the district and State, and (b) prior experience in direct casework and/or intervention work on women's issues at the grassroot level with special focus on Domestic Violence. The candidate must have (a) a post-graduate qualification in social work (M.A. in Social Work/MSW or any other allied social sciences stream) and 2 years' work experience in socialdevelopment sector, and must also demonstrate commitment to working on issues of violence against women vide direct work with both survivors and State systems Candidate must demonstrate willingness to travel across Maharashtra and occasionally to other States as per programme requirements detailed in section on job description below. Verbal and written fluency in Marathi is essential; Working knowledge of Hindi, English and local
      
      
   2. languages/dialects within districts of Maharashtra and comfort with the use of computers & Internet is also desirable.
2. Location and terms of service: The position is full-time and based in Pune. The selected candidate will be contractually employed with TISS, the remuneration payable will be within the range of INR 30,000-INR 40,000/(consolidated) per month, based on experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. Once appointed, the candidate will be expected to reside full-time in Pune and travel to other districts within Maharashtra as per work requirements. 3. Job description: Working with the Department of Women and Child and the State machinery for effective implementation of the Act including training, co-ordination, documentation and monitoring of all stakeholders appointed or designated under the PWDVA and PWDVR in Maharashtra, incl. (a) Provide capacity-support & guidance to and co-ordinate the work of all Protection Officers appointed under the PWDVA, and (b) Advocacy with and training of various stakeholders for ensuring effective implementation under the PWDVA; Networking & advocacy on issues of violence against women & girls, and intervention in situations of violence as experienced and reported by women with special focus on Domestic Violence, with NGOs & Governmental Departments, at district & sub-district levels. Writing, editing reports & compiling data extensively for purposes of programme documentation, official record etc.
   
   

Periodic travel across the State of Maharashtra, and occasionally to other States of India as per programme requirements of training, exposure fieldwork, campaigns, regional meetings etc.
