Goa University invites applications to fill up the two posts of Assistant Librarian, (01-UR & 01-OBC) purely ON CONTRACT BASIS, without any right/claim for regular appointment on a fixed consolidated salary of `47,250/-.

UR-Unreserved & OBC-Other Backward Class.

If, suitable reserved category candidates are not available, General category candidates will be considered against such reserved category.

The minimum essential educational qualification required for the said positions shall be:

1. Assistant Librarian

i. A Masters Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven points scale and consistently good academic record.

ii. Qualifying in the National level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency approved by the UGC.

iii. Candidates, who have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 as incorporated in the relevant Goa University Ordinance shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET.

iv. Candidates who were registered for the M.Phil/Ph.D. Programme prior to July 11, 2009, and have been awarded the Degree under the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degrees shall also be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Librarian subject to fulfillment of the following conditions:

a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only; b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners; c) Open Ph.D. viva-voce of the candidate had been conducted; d) The candidate has published two research papers from out of his/her

Ph.D. work, of which at least one must be in a referred journal; e) The candidate has presented two papers in seminars/conferences based on his/her Ph.D. work.

Fulfillment of conditions at (a) to (e) above are to be certified by the ViceChancellor/Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean (University Instrutions).

Interested candidates fulfilling the prescribed qualification may walk in for the interview on 26/07/2017 at 2.30 p.m. at Administrative Block, Goa University along with an application addressed to the Registrar alongwith bio-data, documents of educational qualifications, experience, caste certificate/certificate of disability, as applicable, 15 years residence certificate for residing in Goa and valid Employment Registration. The copies shall be inscribed with the statement This certificate is true copy of the original and self attested below the statement. Knowledge of Konkani is essential and Knowledge of Marathi is desirable.

Candidates should register their names in the office of the Assistant Registrar (Non-Teaching), Administrative Block, Goa University half an hour before the schedule of the interview.

Candidate shall produce original certificate for verification during the interview.

The age should not exceed 45 years. (Relaxable to SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates as per State Government norms).
