The Resource Centre for Interventions on Violence Against Women (RCI-VAW) has emerged & grown organically from three decades of work by Tata Institute of Social Sciences on violence against women (VAW) with Police, viz. the Special Cells for Women & Children. Key areas of work include research, training/education, advocacy and programme design/implementation/management, which also requires strategic planning and resource management support. This has expanded in the past few years to larger VAW interventions work including action research, evaluation studies & data-based advocacy across the country, and the RCI-VAW has expanded its team accordingly.

At present, the RCI-VAW is seeking suitable candidates for the position of Senior Research Officer and Research Officer to carry out the RCI-VAW's interventions research & documentation, publication activities across multiple States.

Candidates with experience of work on VAW issues, work with State institutions/programmes, and women candidates in particular, will be given preference. Senior/Research Officer (1)

M.A. in any Social Science/Humanities subject, in any Social Science/Humanities subject, with at least 4 years of work and/or academic experience in research (qualitative and quantitative) on women's issues and/or, at least 6 years' experience of work on women's issues including some advocacy and/or research experience (i.e. research report writing/co-authoring, or leading research study, or programme management experience incl. action/evaluation/intervention research leading/management, or advocacy initiatives epxerience incl. campaign & advocacy materials design & dissemination);

Must also: Have data-based advocacy initiative/activity implementation & management experience; Have knowledge of feminist research methodologies & action/intervention research; Be willing to be based in Mumbai if/when recruited, and to travel and train (self and others) for specific research projects' data collection, monitoring & supervision.

Those with experience of advocacy (at all levels of civil society and Governmental stakeholders), knowledge/database management and data-driven programme management for VAW intervention/women's issues/State programmes will be given first preference.

Research Officer (1)

Masters degree in any Social Science/Social Work/Humanities subject,

Fresh post-graduates and those with less than 2 years' experience may apply/be considered; However, first preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of work and/or academic experience in research (qualitative and quantitative) and/or, 3 years' experience of work on women's issues including some research and/or publications/documentation experience (i.e. data collection, research report writing, literature review, pamphlet/poster/webpage design, managing large printing jobs, process documentation, etc.);

Must also: Be familiar with the use of SPSS and Excel programmes for research data-entry and analysis; Be willing to travel and train (self and others) for specific research projects' data collection & capacitysupport.

Renumeration is a consolidated monthly honorarium for contractual appointment, and will be in the range of INR 22,000/--INR 42,000/-commensurate to selected candidate's experience. Annual contract renewal and increments are based on performance appraisal and fund availability.
