Applications are invited for opening as Senior Project Engineer position starting on Aug. 8, 2018 at IIT Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Project Title: FarmerZone (Proj. No. IITM/DBT-Indo-UK/SS/192)

Project coordinators: Dr. Srikant Srinivasan (PI) and Dr. Siddhartha Sarma (Co-PI), School of Computing and Electrical Engineering, IIT Mandi

Salary: Based on experience/qualifications: INR 35,000 60,000 per month

Duration: Maximum Two Years, (The appointment will be made initially for a period of One Year starting immediately after interview results are out, extension for one more year is possible, based on the performance.)

Essential Qualification: PhD in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering fields. Candidates with 5 years of experience and M.Tech degree in any of the above mentioned areas are also eligible.

Desriable Qualification: For candidates with PhD degree, 1-2 years of working experience in academic and research institute/ industry/laboratory preferable. For candidates with M.Tech. degree and 5 years of experience, publication in SCI indexed journals is desirable.

Required Skills:

Good background in networking including wireless sensor networks; microcontroller programming

Hands-on / project experience with any of the following: Raspberry Pi, Sensor interfacing, Arduino IDE, IoT development, Computer networking

Good programming skills in Python, C/ C++, Linux shell scripting

Strong desire and willingness to learn new skills on the job, as required

Main Responsibilities:

Developing communication protocols for interoperability of IoT hardware

Developing and deploying IoT modules using skills mentioned above

Develop user-friendly software tools and interfaces

Detailed regular documentation of the project and administrative tasks

Terms and Conditions:

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a walk-in interview. Shortlisting may include a telephone/video conference interview to determine if candidate is suitable for interview in person.

The project coordinators have the discretion to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience, higher than the minimum prescribed in the announcement.

The nature of the positions is purely temporary (on contract basis).
