Applications are invited from highly motivated, research oriented and focused eligible candidates for a Post-Doctoral Fellow position in the research area of Investigations, Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization of Additive Manufacturing of High Melting Point Materials

Additive manufacturing (AM) is a bottom-up approach based manufacturing philosophy in which a product is manufactured directly from its computer-aided design (CAD) model by depositing the material in thin successive layers in such a way that good mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy and surface finish are achieved along with sound metallurgical bonding between the deposited layers. The research work will focus on the development of novel, energy-efficient and cost effective additive manufacturing process for various metallic materials in both powder and wire form. The outcomes include experimental optimization, mechanical and microstructural characterization of deposition, improvements in surface roughness and dimensional accuracy and 3D complex parts manufacturing.

Essential Qualification and Experience:

Ph.D. completed in area of additive manufacturing.

A strong background in modeling, simulation, optimization, experimental investigations in additive manufacturing of high melting point materials using it either form of wire, powder or both.

The candidate should very good experience in measurement of temperature during additive manufacturing process, measurement of surface roughness, dimensional and geometrical tolerances, residual stresses, defects, and characterization using SEM, TEM, XRD, EDAX, etc. of the additive manufactured product.

The selected fellow has to prepare project proposal for funding by external agency in broad area of additive manufacturing of high melting point materials.

The selected fellow should also work towards patent filing and publication arising from the research work.

The successful candidate should be able to work in a multidisciplinary team in close coordination with other experts and be fluent in English (both oral and written).

Fellowship amount:

Postdoctoral Fellow will be paid consolidated salary based on the following salary structure of the DST for Research Associate.

Category Emoluments per month

Research Associate-I Rs. 36,000/-

Research Associate-II Rs. 38,000/-

Research Associate-III Rs. 40,000/-

The category will decided/recommended by the selection committee based on the qualification/Experience/Performance in the interview of the candidate.

Service conditions:

DA: Postdoctoral Fellow will not be entitled to DA.

House Rent Allowance (HRA): All Postdoctoral Fellow may be provided accommodation based on availability and those residing in accommodation provided by the institute will not be eligible for drawing HRA. Wherever provision of hostel accommodation is not possible, HRA may be allowed to Postdoctoral Fellow as per Government norms applicable in the city/location where they are working. The fellowship amount may be taken as basic for calculating the HRA.

Medical Benefits: The Postdoctoral Fellow will be entitled for medical allowance as per institute policy.

Travel entitlement for the Post-Doctoral Fellow for participation in scientific events/workshops in India will be as per institute norms.

Duration: The appointment will be made initially for one year.
