Appointment of Consultants on contract basis in Nutrition & IDD Cell

Applications are invited for appointment purely on contractual basis for the following positions in the Nutrition & IDD Cell, Directorate General of Health Services, M/o Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi :-

A. Senior Consultant (Nutrition): One position

B. Consultant (IDD): Two positions (One Medical & One Non-Medical)

The appointment shall be for a period of one year initially. Appointment of Consultants on contract basis in Nutrition & IDD Cell, Directorate General of Health Services,New Delhi

Period of Contract, Qualifications, Experience, Remuneration and TORs of Senior Consultant (Nutrition) and Consultant (IDD) - Medical & Non-Medical :-

(I) For position of Senior Consultant (Nutrition):-

Period of Contract:- Initially for a period of one year, purely on contractual basis.

No. of post : One

Qualifications & Experience:-

Essential: (1) M.D. in Community Medicine / Public Health / Bio-Chemistry/ Paediatrics/ Medicine OR Post Graduate Degree in Bio-Chemistry/ Home Science (with Food & Nutrition as main subject) / Food Science/ Food & Nutrition / Food & Dietetics/ Applied Nutrition.

(2) At least 8 years experience in the field of Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition with some research experience with evidence of publications in the National/International journals (as on last date of application).

Desirable: Proficiency in use of ICT.

Age: Below 62 years (as on last date of application).

Remuneration: Rs. 1,00,000/- per month (consolidated).

Terms of Reference (TOR) of Senior Consultant (Nutrition):-

1. To advice the Government on the subject of nutrition, undernutrition / malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, balanced diets, nutrition standard of different age-groups of population.

2. To collect and collate and disseminate latest developments in the field of nutrition, undernutrition / malnutrition, Severe Acute Malnutrition(SAM) and intervention strategies being implemented throughout the world.

3. To advice the hospitals of Central Government about various types of diet in relation to diseased condition and workout low cost recipe for supplementary feeding programmes and SAM Children etc.

4. To coordinate nutritional activities in different Departments of Govt. of India.

5. To train and supervise the training programme in relation to nutrition and micronutrients at the national and regional level.

6. To work as an expert in the field of Nutrition including NIDDCP, NPPCF.

7. To assist Nutrition & IDD Cell in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of NIDDCP and NPPCF.

8. To assist in the development of IEC on nutrition including micronutrients and disseminate these at various levels.

9. Any other work assigned by senior officers of Directorate General of Health Services /Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

(II) For positions of Consultant (IDD) - Medical & Non-Medical:-

Period of Contract:- Initially for a period of one year, purely on contractual basis.

No. of posts : Two (one Medical & one Non-medical Consultant)

Qualifications & Experience:-

Essential:

For Consultant(IDD) Medical (1) MBBS Degree with PG Degree/Diploma in Community Medicine/ Public Health / Health Education/Social Sciences.

(2) At least 2 years experience in development, planning and implementation, monitoring, evaluation of Health Programmes (as on last date of application).

For Consultant(IDD) Non-Medical (1) PG Degree in Bio-Chemistry/ Home Science (with Food & Nutrition as main subject )/ Food Science / Food & Nutrition / Food & Dietetics / Applied Nutrition.

(2) At least 3 years experience in development, planning and implementation, monitoring, evaluation of Health/ Nutrition Programmes (as on last date of application).

Desirable ( for both ): Proficiency in use of ICT.

Age: Below 50 years (as on last date of application)

Remuneration: Rs. 70,000/- per month (consolidated)

Terms of Reference (TOR) for Consultants (IDD) - Medical & Non-Medical:-

1. To guide district health personnel in conducting IDD survey/resurvey.

2. Monitoring of procurement of Salt Testing Kit & its use by ASHAs for testing the quality of the Iodated salt at community level and related reports in all endemic districts of the State/UTs.

3. To examine the Goitre Survey Results, salt & urine analysis reports received from State/UTs and recommend appropriate follow up actions.

4. To visit State IDD Cell & IDD Monitoring Laboratory of different States/UTs to review the implementation of NIDDCP activities

5. Field visit to monitor the IEC activities being implemented at central level under NIDDCP.

6. To assist in organizing training programme on the management of NIDDCP for medical and paramedical including ASHA in States/UTs.

7. Monitoring physical and financial aspects release/expenditure /utilization of NIDDCP with State/UT government.

8. Providing technical support for PIP of NRHM, planning and impact evaluation of the programme activities.

9. Facilitate Iodine deficiency research projects, revision of NIDDCP policy guidelines, development of IEC material etc.

10. Any other work assigned by senior officers of Directorate General of Health Services /Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
