Senior Consultant-Newborn Health (one position)
National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), New Delhi on behalf of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the above mentioned post purely on contractual basis.
Reporting to: Deputy Commissioner, Child Health, MoHFW
Roles and Responsibilities:
To assist Child Health Division in implementation of Newborn Health Programme interventions (Facility level and Community level) under the National Health Mission (NHM) with respect to following thematic areas:
- 1. Provide technical assistance and programmatic support to the thematic areas for strengthening and implementation of Facility Based Newborn Care Programme (SNCUs, NBSUs, and NBCCs) and Home Based Newborn Care Programme (HBYC/ HBNC).
- 2. Compilation of quarterly/monthly reports shared by the States and preparation of national reports.
- 3. Assist in appraisal of State PIPs,
- 4. Provide technical assistance for planning, implementation and mid-course corrections, feedback to improve newborn health care at the facilities and post natal care services at home level and pediatric are at facility level.
- Support facility readiness exercise at the districts.
- Support to operationalization of newborn corners and Newborn Stabilization Units.
- Review and support adherence of protocols.
- Carry out regular review and track district activities against the program plan.
- Facilitate mentoring visits at facilities to focus and improve newborn care practices at facilities and home.
- 5. Facilitate capacity building of government functionaries at state level trainings of newborn care.
- 6. Advocate and support use of tools and job aids form improving essential newborn care practices.
- 7. Assist in development of documents, operational and technical guidelines on Newborn Health
- 8. Assist in developing technical reports and reviewing of existing guidelines and training manuals and dissemination of the same at the State/ district levels.
- 9. Assist in development of Still Birth Surveillance system, guideline etc.
- 10. Any other work assigned by the Supervisor within the Child Health framework Outputs.
Eligibility:
- 1. MBBS/BDS/BHMS/BAMS with MD/MPH/MHA/Post Graduate Diploma in Health Management/ MBA in Health Management.
- 2. Minimum of 5+ years experience in the field of public health of which 2-3 years experience in RCH Programme with government at national or state level. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with NHM at National/State Level.
- 3. Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Health Mission.
- 4. Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- 5. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- 6. Demonstrated experience in implementing RCH trainings program at field level
- 7. Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, Power Point & Web surfing to search relevant data & documents.
- 8. Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
- 9. Willingness to travel to states & districts to provide technical assistance & ability to work on different assignments simultaneously to meet the timelines for assignments.
- 10. Formal educational qualification and experience could be relaxed when there is published work of high quality or whenever there is work experience of specific relevance.
Age: Up to 55 years as on last date for receiving application and having sound health to undertake extensive field visits.
Remuneration Range: Between Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1, 30,000/- per month
Location: New Delhi with willingness to travel to states and districts.
