Advt No.10/2017 : Walk-in Interview for the appointment of Head, Research and Development Office on Contract Basis on Monday, 27th March, 2017
The Bangalore Life Science Cluster, an innovative institutional model for cutting-edge scientific research and technology development in India, invites applications for the position of the Head, of its Research Development Office.
The Bangalore Life Science Cluster includes NCBS (www.ncbs.res.in), apremier centre for research and teaching in frontier areas of biology,inStem (http://instem.res.in/), an institute with a research focus in the broad areas of stem cell research and regenerative medicine with translation emphasis and CCAMP (http://www.ccamp.res.in/), created forenabling research and entrepreneurship at the Cluster and beyond.
The Head of the Research Development Office will oversee all aspects of grant manangement, ensuring smooth operations of national, international grant submission and grant management post-award; build strong working relations with a range of funding agencies, Foundations, Trusts and donors. This role will require outreach at multiple levels to ensure that research at the Cluster is well supported by enabling funding.The Head RDO will work with researchers and administration at the Bangalore Life Science Cluster campus to create and implement structures for sustained extramural, philanthropic and endowment funding to the campus. The activities of the incumbent will be central.
Key duties of the Head, Research Development Office will include:

Devising structures for implementing extramural funding programs at the Cluster, via the RDO
- Devising team structures for implementing the philanthropic and endowment funding program at the Cluster, via the RDO

Strategic planning for and oversight of operations via the RDO
- Integrating RDO activities with other campus teams working in area complementary to the operations of the RDO, with a view to optimizing process and resources for research at the campus
- Coordinating with the communication office and scientific community at the Cluster, to execute a range of mechanisms including newsletters, workshops, career sessions amongst others.
- Outreach to funding agencies, current and prospective donors
- Information management relating to research funding for the Cluster
- Working across with other campus colleagues as needed to facilitat broader objectives of the Cluster
- Integrating campus participation in national and international level initiatives and discussions on funding, communications and alternative careers in science.
Applicants to the role should have:

A Phd in Life Sciences
-
A minimum of 8-10 years experience in research funding administration

Proven track record of mentoring staff and building teams
- Ability to work with a range of communications tools, including newsletters, reports, events, social media and press engagements

Prior experience working in an academic environment
- Prior experience working with philanthropic donors and organizations (desirable)

Initiative, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work

The ability to analyze, summarize and communicate information

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
