RAC invites online applications from Graduate Engineers including students appearing in their final year examination through RAC website https://rac.gov.in for recruitment to the posts of Scientist `B in DRDO in Level10 (7th CPC) of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100/) in specified disciplines and categories. Total emoluments (inclusive of HRA and all other allowances) at the time of joining will be approximately Rs. 80,000/p.m. at the present metro city rate.

Note:In case a particular institute does not have any criteria for First Class or equivalent, 60% marks will be taken as equivalent to first class for that institute. In such cases, where conversion formula is not available, CGPA/CPI of 6.75 (for a 10 point scale) will be taken as equivalent to 60% as per AICTE guidelines.

iv) Relaxation in upper age limit (As per Govt rules) :
(a)
The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for serving Central Civilian Govt. employees working in posts which are in the same line or allied cadres and where a relationship could be established that the service already rendered in a particular post will be useful for the efficient discharge of the duties of the advertised posts.
(b)
The upper age limit is relaxable for Exservicemen including Ex SSCOs/ECOs as per rules in vogue.
II. NATIONALITY

Only Indian Nationals need apply.

III. HOW TO APPLY

i) Candidates are required to register online at the RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).

ii) On successful registration, the candidates may login before the closing date of the advertisement to fill the application form online. The candidates are required to upload the requisite certificates (See Para IV for details), the details of the application fee payment (if not exempted) and lock the application before submission of the same.

iii) Candidates in Govt. service or in Govt. owned organisations should also submit their applications online directly to the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) and such candidates are required to upload a declaration (Please see Para IV (v) for details) that they have intimated their employer that they have applied for a post in DRDO. However, such candidates, if in regular service whether in permanent or temporary capacity, will be required to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Cadre Controlling Authority (CCA) as per the proforma available at RAC website at the time of interview, in addition to the aforesaid declaration. If CCA considers withholding the NOC, the candidate should inform RAC within 30 days of the closing date.

iv) Candidates are advised to retain a copy of the online recruitment application (pdf format) along with Acknowledgement Slip generated after locking the online application form.

v) Only locked/ finalised applications in all respects shall be considered.

vi) Points to be considered while filling Application form:

a) The GATE paper and the subject of qualifying degree must be related to the Subject/Discipline against which the candidate is applying.

b) Candidates are advised to be careful while filling their GATE score as the short listing will be based on the GATE score filled in the application/bio data form.

c) The scrutiny of application/ confirmation of GATE score from the submitted documents/ score card will only be done for those candidates who are above the cut off of GATE score as per the norms of shortlisting specified in the advertisement. Therefore the wrongly filled GATE score may automatically result in candidate not getting shortlisted for scrutiny purposes also.

IV. DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED ONLINE

i) Self attested certificates/testimonials regarding Date of Birth, Essential and Higher qualification along with marksheets, caste, exservicemen, employment etc. The maximum file size of each attachment should not exceed 500KB and it must be legible when a print out is taken.

ii) A recent passport size colour photograph (size not exceeding 30 KB; resolution of 110 x 140 pixels).

iii) Scanned sample of candidates signature.

iv) Valid GATE score card.

v) The candidates, whether in Govt Service or in Govt owned organisations, should upload a signed declaration (as per the proforma available at RAC website) that they have informed their Cadre Controlling Authority (CCA) in writing that they have applied for the post of Scientist B in DRDO.

vi) A provision will be made for the candidates appearing/appeared in final year examination, to submit their degree/provisional degree certificate online till 31 Jul 2018.

V. APPLICATION FEE & MODE OF PAYMENT

General and OBC male candidates are required to pay a nonrefundable nontransferable application fee of `100/(Rs. One Hundred only) payable online only. There is no application fee for SC/ST and women candidates.

VI. SCREENING/ SHORTLISTING

i) Shortlisting Criteria:
a) Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for a written examination on
the basis of valid GATE score in the ratio of 1:25, subject to their GATE
score not being below 25% of the GATE score of the first shortlisted
candidate.
b) Candidates who appear for the written exam will be further
shortlisted for Personal interview in the ratio of 1:5 in order of merit list
prepared on the basis of written examination only.
ii) Information regarding the shortlisted candidates will be made available at
RAC website.
iii) Shortlisted candidates shall be able to download their admit card/call
letter for the written exam/interview respectively along with its venue,
date & time through the candidate login obtained after successful
registration. Intimation in this regard shall be sent as SMS on the registered
mobile number of the candidate. Candidates may please note that the
admit card for written exam/call letter for interview will not be sent by
post/courier.
VII. DETAILS OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION

i) The written examination will be of subjective type, consisting of two papers of 300 marks each, to be conducted in two sessions of duration of three hours each. The syllabus of the written exam (downloadable from RAC website) is similar to Engineering Services examination (Main) for Mechanical Engineering conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The written examination will be administered in a paper based format.

ii) Tentatively, the written examination will be conducted at DRDO centres in seven cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Pune) as well as at other common centres, if the need arises. Candidates are required to indicate their preferred examination centre in the online application from among the listed centres. However, RAC reserves the right to allot any centre as per its administrative convenience.

iii) The written examination is likely to be held in August 2018.

VIII. SELECTION PROCESS

i) The shortlisted candidates on the basis of the written examination will be required to appear in the personal interview to be held at Delhi or any other place as decided by RAC/ DRDO.

ii) Round trip Bus/Rail (Second class) fare will be paid to the shortlisted candidates for attending the interview on production of travel tickets from the place mentioned in their address for correspondence to the place of interview. No reimbursement will be admissible to those candidates who are found not eligible to appear in interview for any reason whatsoever.

iii) The offer of appointment to the selected candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies in order of merit. The appointment, however, will be subject to satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical examination prescribed for Group A Technical posts of Govt. of India with Field Service liability and verification of character antecedents besides verification of SC/ST/OBC certificate etc, wherever applicable.

iv) Final result (customised for individual candidate) will be made available at RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).

IX. SELECTION CRITERIA

i) Only those candidates securing minimum qualifying marks of 70% (for UR category) and 60% (for OBC/SC/ST category) in the personal interview will be considered for preparation of final merit list. Candidates who do not qualify the interview will not be considered for final selection irrespective of their written exam score.

ii) The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of discipline wise category wise merit of aggregate of 80% weightage of marks in written examination and 20% weightage of marks in personal interview.

iii) In addition to the above, any other selection tool/test may be administered, at the sole discretion of the RAC.

X. TRAINING

All selected Scientists B may be required to initially undergo a full time Post Induction Training at DIAT Pune/ ITM Mussoorie.

XI. LIABILITY TO SERVE

As per the Central Government Rules, selected candidates will have the liability to serve anywhere in India including remote/ field area locations.

XII. CLOSING DATE

Online submission closes on 21st day at 1700 Hrs (IST) from the date of publication of Advertisement in the Employment News.

XIII. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

ii) Those applications which are not locked/ finalised by the candidates in accordance with the instructions will be automatically rejected by the computer system and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Therefore candidates are advised to Submit/ Finalise the Application carefully and enclose all necessary documents as applicable.

iii) The applicants should ensure their eligibility in respect of age, essential qualifications etc.

iv) No request with respect to the change in any data submitted by the candidates will be entertained once the Closing Date of online submission is over.

v) The OBC (Noncreamy Layer) candidates are required to submit requisite certificate in prescribed format of Government of India, from a competent authority. The certificate must have been issued on or after 01 Apr 2018 and must be valid through the Financial Year 201819.

vi) The number of vacancies may vary.

vii) Applicants are advised not to change their registered mobile number as vital information regarding their shortlisting/selection status will be intimated through SMS.

xi) Dispute, if any, will be subject to the courts/ tribunals having jurisdiction over Delhi only.

XIV. CAUTION Misrepresentation or falsification of facts detected at any stage of the selection process or instances of misconduct/misbehaviour at any stage during selection process shall result in cancellation of candidature without any notice and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
