ADVERTISEMENT FOR POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP POSITION

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee invites applications from outstanding and enthusiastic researchers for Postdoctoral Position for working on a project focused on "Emotion enabled sign language recognition using multiple sensors".

The prospective candidate is expected to have a strong background in image processing and machine learning. The prior knowledge of object detection and recognition in image/video will be considered as added qualification. Candidate should be passionate about working in pattern recognition problems. Other research activities may include participating in research discussion with overseas universities and research centres.

Last date of application submission is 18th June, 2018.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

The prospective candidate should have following qualifications i.e. good publication record in Image Processing/Computer Vision/Pattern Recognition with at least two publications in referred journals and PhD in the area of Image Processing/Computer Vision/Pattern Recognition. Candidate must have knowledge on local and deep features for computer vision and patter recognition and good background knowledge in signal processing and machine learning areas.

Candidates who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis are also eligible to apply subject to the condition that they will furnish the proof of award of PhD degree at the time of interview.

Duration and Fellowship amount

The duration of the fellowship will be of two years extendable to three years, if necessary. The candidate is expected to join the Department as soon as offer letter has been released. The fellow will receive a consolidated fellowship as below in addition with the contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum.

First Year: Rs. 50,000/- per month

Second Year: Rs. 55,000/- per month

(i) The Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) will be registered as IIT Roorkee students for availing the facilities of accommodation, hospital, medical insurance scheme, computer centre, library, sports, etc.

(ii) The candidates called for discussion/interview will be paid II-AC train fare from their place of residence/work and back by the shortest route within India.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in January 2013. The department offers B.Tech, M.Tech., and PhD programs. The department is known for its internationally reputed faculties having expertise in diverse fields. It has active research groups in the broad areas of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology. The Department has completed a large number of sponsored research projects funded by DRDO, DST, UGC, ISRO, DOE, AICTE, MCIT, etc. Besides, the department offers R&D and consultancy services too.
