Recruitment for faculty positions (under Self Supporting Programme) in the Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh

I. Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh invites applications for the following faculty positions purely on temporary basis under Self Supporting Programme. The programme is conducted by the institute on a Self-Supported basis.

II. Qualifications & Experience:

For Professor:

(i). Essential:

A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelors and Masters Degree in the

appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. and experience of ten years in teaching, research and /or industry out of which at least five years at the level of Assistant Professor, Reader or equivalent grade.

(ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered as desirable:

1. Teaching, research, industrial and /or professional experience in a reputed organization.
   
   
2. Published work, such as research papers patents filed/obtained books and /or technical reports.
   
   
3. Experience of guiding the project work/dissertation of PG/ Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
   
   
4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and/or professional activities.
   
   

For Associate Professor :

(i) Essential:

A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelors and Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech, and experience of eight years in teaching, research and/or industry at the level of lecturer or equivalent grade excluding period spent on obtaining the research degree.

ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:

1. Teaching, research industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization.
   
   
2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed/obtained books and/or technical reports.
   
   
3. Experience of guiding the project work/ dissertation of PG/Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
   
   

III Upper Age limit:

Professor: not exceeding 50 year

Associate Professor: not exceeding 45 years

IV Pay Band, Academic Grade Pay and Allowances:

Professor Rs. 37,400-67,000 + AGP 10000

Associate Professor Rs. 37,400-67,000 + AGP 9000

In addition, the post carry allowances (such as dearness allowance, house rent

allowance, medical allowance, CCA etc.) as approved by the Chandigarh Administration and

the Board of Governors / Board of Management of the institute.

IV Other Conditions:

i) The above mentioned faculty positions are temporary and likely to continue as long as the self supported ME course continues.

ii) The minimum period for which the course shall continue will be three years.

iii) The post shall carry all the benefits admissible to regular faculty except for the LTC.

iv) The post shall be non-pensionable and shall carry the facility of CPF (Contributory Provident Fund)

v)	The	teaching			posts			will			be		entitled			for		reimbursement								for	attending
	national/international conferences, and reimbursement of books etc. as available to
	regular faculty member.
vi)	The post shall carry the benefit of HRA (House Rent allowance) but will not be
	entitled for allotment of government accommodation/ lease accommodation.
vii)	Existing faculty members of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University),
	if selected on this post will be treated as per the existing government guidelines.
viii)	Candidates		from				other		organization,					if	selected				on		this			post	should			have	a
	commitment of at least three years from his organization to serve at PEC University
	of Technology.
ix)	Qualifications			or		experience				can		be relaxed in					case			of		an	exceptionally qualified
	candidate.

x) Candidate already in service should route their application through proper channel
