Written test for the post of Technical Assistant (one) on contract basis @ Rs. 16,500/per month fixed under UGC (CAS-VI) for handling the work of the Department of Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh for six working days in a week initially appointed for 89 dates and extendable upto one year with one day break after 89 days, will be held on Saturday, 2nd September, 2017 at 11.00 a.m.in the Department of Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Those who qualify and are amongst top 20 candidates will be interviewed on the date to be specified later on.

Interested candidates with below mentioned qualifications may submit their applications by 24th August, 2017_by 4.30 p.m. along with complete bio-data, copies of marks sheets and relevant certificates in the office of the undersigned.

1. Qualification:M.Sc. (Computer Science)/M.Sc. (IT)/M.C.A./B.E. or B.Tech. (CSE) with minimum 60% marks.

2. Desirable Qualifications:-

Practical knowledge of computer networking.

The candidate should not be more than 35 years of age on the last date fixed for submission of application.

The final selection will be made by giving 85% weightage to the score in the written test and 15% weightage of interview.

No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the test and interview.

Format of Question Paper and Syllabus

FORMAT

  1. Total number of questions = 50 (Fifty)

  2. TotalMarks=1x50=50

  3. Time allotted = 60 minutes

  4. Negative marking: For each incorrect answer, a deduction of one-fourth mark will be applicable.

  5. Type of question: Objective

SYLLABUS Computer fundamental: (30 questions)

Basics of computer: Hardware (Different physical parts of computer as per latest

specifications), Software (Application and system software) and firmware. Representation of information: Organization of data in pen drive, hard disk and on server.

Disk operating system: Windows: Files and Folder Management, Accessories, System Tools, Control Panel. Word processing software, Spread sheet software, Presentation software. Linux

Programming in C: (10 questions)

Pre-processor, 1/O functions, for loop, do-while, if-else etc. functions, arrays and pointers, structures, unions.

Data Base Management System: (5 questions)

Data base concepts, Data base security features, Understanding SQL.

Data Communication and Networking: (5 questions)

Data Communication, Computer Networking and applications, LAN, WAN technologies, Hubs, Switches and Routers, TCP/IP model. Network layer.
