Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment to the posts of Assistant Professor in the following Teaching Departments of the University in the scale of pay of Rs. 1560039100 (AGP Rs.6000/-) (Pre revised).
Appointments to the posts will be made in accordance with Section (6) Sub Section (2) of Chapter II of the Kerala University Act,1974, UGC Regulations 2010 and amendments made thereon.
The turn of appointment as per the principles of rotation is given against each post.

Qualifications:
Qualifications are as prescribed by the UGC in the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education, 2010, which are as follows:
- Good Academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at Masters Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent Degree from an accredited foreign University.
- Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
- Not withstanding anything contained in sub-clause (i) and (ii), candidates who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D Degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of minimum eligibility conditions of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
- NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programme in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
- Inorder for a Ph.D Degree to be considered either for relaxation of the requirement of NET in the selection process, any one of the following applicable certificate has to be produced by the applicant:
i) In the case of Ph.D holder, who had registered on or after 11th July 2009, a Certificate from the University concerned to the effect that the Ph.D has been awarded in accordance with the provisions of UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for awards of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009
ii) In the case of Ph.D holder, who had registered prior to 11th July 2009, a Certificate from the ViceChancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Dean(Academic Affairs)/Dean(University Instructions) of the University which issued the Degree, to the effect that the Ph.D has been awarded fulfilling the following conditions: a) Ph.D Degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only. b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners. c) Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least
one must be in a refereed journal e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her
Ph.D work. [as contemplated in the UGC (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) (4 th Amendment), Regulations, 2016].
- A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided at the Graduate and Masters level for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled)/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non Creamy Layer) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.
- A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have obtained their Masters Degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
Age : Not more than 40 years as on 01.01.2017.
Usual relaxation in the upper age limit shall be allowed in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST and Other Backward Classes. Relaxation in the upper age limit will also be allowed in the case of persons already in the regular teaching service in the Departments/affiliated colleges under the University of Kerala and UGC qualified technical staff (non-teaching) in the University of Kerala.
Registration Fee: Rs.1000/-(Rs. 500/-for SC/ST Applicants)
Mode of remittance of Registration Fee :
a) Registration fee can be remitted online. b) Fee can also be remitted by DD drawn on State Bank of India in favour of The Finance Officer,
University of Kerala payable at State Bank of India Service Branch, Thiruvananthapuram. c) Remittance towards Registration fee will also be accepted in cash at the Kerala University Cash
Counter, University Buildings, Thiruvananthapuram and also at the various Friends Counters (Jana
Sevana Kendram) in the State. d) Postal Orders, Money Orders, Cheques and DDs from other Banks and DD drawn on Kariavattom
Branch will not be accepted. e) Fee once remitted will not be refunded.
How to apply:
The applicants are required to apply through online mode (recruit.keralauniversity.ac.in). They have to submit hard copies of the printout of online application alongwith self attested copies of the supporting documents and fee receipts or Demand Draft in original towards Registration Fees, so as to reach the Registrar University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram 695 034 on or before 05:00 pm on 28-122017. Submission/addition of any documents after the last date for receipt of applications will not be entertained. Candidature of those who have registered online and failed to submit hard copies of application will be invalidated.
The applicants are required to provide a working email ID and cell phone number in the application. Since all communications in connection with the recruitment will be sent to the registered email ID and by SMS, the candidates are directed to check their email and SMS periodically.
Separate applications with separate fees shall be required for applying to different posts.
Applicants who are employed should forward the hard copies of application through proper channel or enclose NOC of employer. However, they can send an advance copy with the fee receipt/Demand Draft directly to ensure timely receipt of application. Late and Defective applications will be summarily rejected.
Applicants who have passed their qualifying examinations from Universities other than University of Kerala should furnish an Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Kerala, stating that their qualifying degrees issued by other Universities, are recognised by the University of Kerala. along with their application. Additional PG Degree, if any, of other Universities is also required to be supported with Eligibility Certificate for getting weightage.
OBC candidates have to produce certificate issued by competent authorities, certifying that they do not belong to the Creamy Layer in order to be considered for posts reserved for OBC categories.
OBC and SC/ST candidates have to produce community certificates issued by competent authorities, for claiming age relaxation.
Applicants are required to produce sufficient documentary proof in respect of the claims/credentials made in their applications, in respect of the following, alongwith hard copy, for the same being considered:
- Certificates in respect of UG, PG, Additional PG, MPhil and PhD Degrees
- Marklists of PG Degree
- Certificate to prove percentage of marks of PG Degree, where grading system is followed
- Rank Certificates for Graduation/PG (For first 3 ranks.
- JRF Certificate.
- National/State Fellowships
- International Fellowships/Young Scientist Award/National Award
- Post Doctoral Research Experience: (a)International level (b) National level and (c) University level
- Publications in Journals approved by the UGC
- (a) International Journals, (b) National Journals and (c) State Journals in regional language
- Publications in Books with ISBN:
- (a) International, (b) National and Govt. Publishers
- Certificates of Paper Presentation in Seminar/Conferences (alongwith presented paper):
- (a) International Seminar (b) National Seminars
- Publications in Journals approved by the UGC
- Certificate of Teaching Experience (Experience acquired as regular teacher in University Departments/Government and aided colleges/State and National Institutes will only be counted)
- Training/Field work/workshop of not less than 1 week duration
- Patents awarded
- Awards instituted by Government of India/Science Academies/Govt. Of Kerala/Academy Awards in Literature.
- Awards for best thesis given by the University.
All qualifications/experience/credentials claimed should have been acquired as on the last date of receipt of applications.
The University reserves the right to accept/reject the applications or to re-notify the post without assigning any reason.
Candidates, if called for interview, should appear for the same at Thiruvananthapuram at their own expense. Submission of application does not entitle the applicant any right to be appointed or be called for interview.
