SITUATION VACANT
In continuation and partial modification to the advertisement Notice No. Adm/TW/C&R/17/720 dated 21.07.2017, the applications complete in all respects, on the prescribed form are invited from the eligible candidates for the posts of Lecturers/Teaching Assistants in the following Departments/Campuses of University of Jammu for the academic session 2017-18 to be engaged on contract basis, as purely temporary academic arrangement, so as to reach in the Office of the Rector/Heads of the concerned
Departments/Campuses on or before 15th September, 2017.
A. Main Campus:
- The Business School,
- Department of Zoology
B. Bhaderwah Campus:
- Life Sciences Institute of Mountain Environment,
- Department of B.Ed. (prescribed Eligibility Qualification mentioned earlier vide notice No. Adm/TW/C&R/17/720 dated 21.07.2017 has been changed as per the qualification prescribed by the NCTE. Corrigendum in this regard has already been issued, vide No. Adm/TW/C&R/17/948-57 dated 25.08.2017 and the same is available on the University website (www.jammuuniversity.in)
PRESCRIBED QUALIFICATIONS: -For Lecturer
i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree
level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
Provided, however, that the candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions.
For Lecturer/Teaching Assistant in Life Science in Bhaderwah Campus:
i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an
equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree
level in Environmental Sciences/Botany/Zoology from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of
Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
Provided, however, that the candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions.
For B.Ed. in Bhaderwah Campus
A. Perspectives in Education or Foundation courses
i. Post Graduate Degree in Social Sciences with minimum 55% marks; and;
ii. M.Ed. Degree from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks;
OR
i. Postgraduate (MA) Degree in Education with minimum 55% marks; and
ii. B.Ed./B.EL.Ed. Degree with minimum 55% marks
B. Curriculum and Pedagogic Courses:
i. Postgraduate Degree in Sciences/ Mathematics/Social Sciences/ Languages with minimum 55% marks, and
ii. M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks;
Desirable Qualification: Ph.D. Degree in Education with Subject Specializations
Note: In case of B and C put together, form two faculty positions, a Postgraduate Degree in Sociology /Psychology / Philosophy with 55% marks, and B.Ed./B.EL.ED with 55 % marks and three years of teaching experience in a Secondary School shall be considered.
C. Specialized Courses Physical Education:
i. Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) with minimum 55% marks. (Training/Qualification in Yoga Education shall be desirable)
Visual Arts:
i. Post graduate Degree in Fine Arts (MFA with minimum 55% marks
Performing Arts:
i. Post Graduate Degree in Music/ Dance/Theatre Arts with minimum 55% marks
NOTE:

However, candidates seeking exemption from NET/SLET/SET are required to produce a bonafide certificate from the concerned University(s) to the effect that the said candidate has been awarded PhD. Degree in conformity with the UGC Regulations i.e. all the conditions laid down in University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for Award of PhD. Degree) Regulations, 2009 are fulfilled by them at the time of submitting their PhD, thesis).
- In case the eligible candidates possessing NET/SET/Ph.D. are not available, the candidates
having Masters degree with 55% may also be considered as Teaching Assistants (60% for
Management discipline).
- Their salary shall be paid as per University norms.

The contractual posts of Lecturer/Teaching Assistant for Zoology (Entomology) at Main Campus and for B.Ed. at Bhaderwah campus advertised vide No. Adm/TW/C&R/17/ 720 dated 21.07.2017 stands withdrawn and the application forms received against said posts shall not be considered and the interested candidates need to apply afresh in view of the revised qualifications/criteria
- The University reserves the right not to fill up any of the temporary vacancies advertised, if circumstances so warrant, without assigning any reason thereof.
- The University reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of posts at the time of Selection.
Besides the prescribed qualification as mentioned above, the criteria for selection of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor is indicated below:

- Academic Record and Research Performance (50%)
- (b)
- Assessment of Domain Knowledge and Teaching Skills (30%)
- (c)
- Interview performance (20%).
Important: A candidate will be selected only if he/she is able to score at least 50% marks in each category mentioned above separately.
