OPPORTUNITY FOR SENIOR SCIENTISTS OF INDIAN ORIGIN GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY ENERGY BIOSCIENCE CHAIRS
Applications are invited for Energy Bioscience Chairs, a senior level scheme of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Objective
-
- The scheme is aimed at engaging senior scientists of Indian origin working in modern biological sciences, and who are desirous of pursuing, complementing and enhancing quality of R&D in energy related biosciences in Indian institutions.
- Eligibility
- The scheme is aimed at engaging senior scientists of Indian origin working in modern biological sciences, and who are desirous of pursuing, complementing and enhancing quality of R&D in energy related biosciences in Indian institutions.
- The applicants should possess a PhD in biological sciences or relevant areas and an outstanding track record reflected in publications, cutting edge technology development and other recognitions. The scientists should possess proven capabilities of leading groups of scientists engaged in comprehensive and focused research and development programs of industrial and social relevance in biological sciences.
- Only candidates of Indian origin are eligible to apply.
- Each awardee will receive the following: (a) Emolument of Rs. Rs. 1,15,038/-p.m. (Consolidated) as per the scale of Professor@Rs.37400-67000+(10000 G.P), and (b) contingency grant of Rs. 10.00 lakhs/year for one or more of the following: purchase of consumables, minor equipment, engaging manpower, secretarial assistance and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with his/her research project. However, the institute / university where the applicant proposes to work may consider giving additional benefits (such as house rent allowance / housing, medical expenses, leave travel allowance and other benefits) as applicable to its regular faculty. This may be directly taken up by the applicants with the Indian Institution that proposes to host them.
- Duration
- The duration of the fellowship can be from six months up to one year extendable to three years.
- Others
- Each awardee will receive the following: (a) Emolument of Rs. Rs. 1,15,038/-p.m. (Consolidated) as per the scale of Professor@Rs.37400-67000+(10000 G.P), and (b) contingency grant of Rs. 10.00 lakhs/year for one or more of the following: purchase of consumables, minor equipment, engaging manpower, secretarial assistance and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with his/her research project. However, the institute / university where the applicant proposes to work may consider giving additional benefits (such as house rent allowance / housing, medical expenses, leave travel allowance and other benefits) as applicable to its regular faculty. This may be directly taken up by the applicants with the Indian Institution that proposes to host them.
- Each awardee is expected to submit an annual progress report highlighting major achievements during the preceding year in which fellowship was awarded (1st April 31st March) & will end the following March.
- The Energy Bioscience Chairs cannot be availed along with any regular salary. In case the awardee finds a job either before or during the tenure of the fellowship, either the fellowship or the salary can be availed at the same time. However, the contingency grant can be availed with the salary after obtaining due permission from DBT.
- Applications should be routed through the Indian Institution where the awardee wishes to avail the fellowship, and should be supported by a systematic plan of activities highlighting how the presence of the applicant will benefit the host Institution in furthering research and development in the field of energy biosciences.
