Institute of Public Health, Kalyani has been set up under the aegis of Society for Health and Demographic Surveillance which is funded by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal. The objective is to introduce courses in Public Health which are modern, befitting with the need of the State and able to address local issues with a global mindset. The key focal areasoftheInstitute areeducation,researchandpolicyformulations. Abroadbased, multidisciplinary post-graduate program in public health (Masters in Public Health) has been started with affiliation of West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

2. Applications are invited for appointment to the post of Assistant Professor in Epidemiology at the Institute of Public Health, Kalyani, District Nadia, West Bengal. The Assistant Professor will playa major role in developing the course content and teaching of Epidemiology to students under the Masters of Public Health (MPH) programme. SjHe will be expected to contribute towards developing strong, multidisciplinary research programmes and projects in collaboration with other faculty members and researchers at the institute and other national and international collaborators. SjHe will take part in the Department's educational programme including the planning, teaching and individual and cross-disciplinary group-based supervision. The candidate would be expected to have a flair for teaching andj or research in both theoretical and applied topical themes in epidemiology with a track record of research in these fields and be conversant in quantitative epidemiological methods and techniques. Prior experience to teach similar courses will be an advantage.

Applicants must have a graduate degree in Medical Sciences (MBBSjBDSjBHMSjBAMS)followedbyaPhDinEpidemiology(atleast three publications each in peer-reviewed national and international academic journals) orMD(inPublicHealthorCommunityMedicine)withatrackrecord ofresearch withpeerreviewedpublications.
c.
Specialization in infectious disease epidemiology, disease modelling and socialZbehavioural epidemiology will be preferred. Good cross-disciplinary interpersonal skillswillbetreatedasaddedadvantage.

Experienceofwinningcompetitiveresearch grants andfellowshipswouldbeadistinct advantage.

Salary and Contract
