Institute of Public Health, Kalyani has been set up under the aegis of Society for Health and Demographic Surveillance which is funded by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal. The objective is to introduce courses in Public Health which are modern, befitting with the need of the State and able to address local issues with a global mindset. The key focal areas of the Institute are education, research and policy formulations. A broadbased, multidisciplinary post-graduate program in public health (Masters in Public Health) has been started with affiliation of West Bengal University of

Health Sciences.

2. Applications are invited for appointment to the post of Assistant Professor in EnvironmentalHealth/Occupational HealthattheInstituteofPublicHealth,Kalyani, District Nadia, West Bengal. The Assistant Professor will play a major role in developing the course content and teaching of Environmental Health/Occupational Healthtostudents undertheMastersofPublicHealth(MPH)programme.S/Hewillbe expected to contribute towards developing strong, multidisciplinary research programmes and projects in collaboration with other faculty members and researchers attheinstitute andothernationalandinternational collaborators.S/Hewilltakepart in the Department's educational programme including the planning, teaching and individual and cross-disciplinary group-based supervision. The candidate would be expected to have a flair for teaching and/ or research in both theoretical and applied topical themes in Environmental Health/Occupational Health with a track record of researchinthis field.Priorexperiencetoteachsimilarcourseswillbeanadvantage.

Applicants must have a graduate degree in Medical Sciences (MBBS/BDS/BHMS/BAMS) followed by a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences, Toxicology,Water and Sanitation Sciences or Occupational Health (at least three publications each in peer-reviewed national and international academicjournals).

Specialization in occupational health and hygiene will be preferred. Good cross-disciplinaryinterpersonal skillswillbetreatedasaddedadvantage.
