Ministry of Science & Technology (Department of Biotechnology), Government of India, invites applications /nominations of eligible persons on deputation (including short term contract) for the post of EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR- NATIONAL AGRI-FOOD BIOTECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE MOHALI, PUNJAB, an autonomous Institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The period of deputation includes period of deputation in other ex-cadre post, held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/Department should ordinarily not exceed 5 years.

2.Deatils of the post of Executive Director

The goal of NABI is to serve as a Centre of Excellence in genomics, translational science and product development with focus on agribiotechnology, food science technology, nutrition sciences and nutraceuticals. Details of the job and other particulars of the post of Executive Director, NABI are given below:

a) The Executive Director is expected to provide both academic and administrative leadership to the Centre in its intramural and extramural activities.

b) The post carries a basic pay of ` 80,000/- with usual allowances as per Central Government Rules.

c) Age (desirable): below 56 years.

d) Qualification: The candidate should posses:

Essential

(i) Ph.D. in food technology/biochemical or bioprocess Engineering or related field.

(ii) Minimum 20 years research experience in the field of biotechnology, specifically for application in agriculture, food processing, nutrition and health.

(iii) Excellent track record, hand in research publications patents and awards.

Desirable

(i) Experience in successfully running large programme, centre, institution.

(ii) Experience of guiding research activities in relevant field.

3. General

(a) The applicant must be a citizen of India. Applicants from Government / Semi-government organization / Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Organizations must send their applications Through Proper Channel. D. or equivalent in a relevant subject (c) High academic credentials in the area of modern biology / life sciences as evidenced by proven ability to carryout independent research and an ability to provide leadership for research in areas relevant to the institutes objectives and goals

(d) Minimum 10 years of experience in responsible positions of work in R&D / Planning / Industrial / Academic Institutions / Science & Technology organizations.

3. Main Duties of the Executive Director:

a. Leadership and strategic direction: Provide overall direction and leadership to the Institute. Develop and implement strategic goals, objectives and scientific priorities of the Institute. Provide direction and leadership to the Institutes staff ensuring that they operate to the highest standards, that appropriate

quality controls, infrastructure, training and support are in place to enable them to fulfill their functions effectively.

b. Programme establishment, development and operations: Play a central role in the set up and development of the Institutes research programme and their implementation. Ensure that a culture of continuous improvement is embedded within the institute.

c. Institutes marketing, community and public relations: Oversee marketing and promotion of the Institute and ensure its activities are consistently presented in strong and positive manner to relevant stakeholders.

d. Partnership liaison: Develop and maintain effective relationships by creating effective structures to ensure close liaison, coordination and communication relating to the activities of the Institute. Maintain relationships with the relevant academic / other communities.

4.
