Advertisement for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Assistant (PA) under DST-NANOMISSION at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology

Applications are invited from motivated and bright candidates for the position of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Assistant (PA) in the research project funded under DST-NANOMISSION scheme, Government of India, at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali

Title of the Research Project: Atomic-scale investigation of the nanopiezotronic properties in semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers via first-principles electronic structure methods

Principal Investigator: Dr Abir De Sarkar, Scientist-E

Name of the position available: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Assistant (PA)

Number of positions available: One

Qualifications:

Essential: M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Material Science/ Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Applied Sciences/ Engineering with NET/GATE/JEST/DST-Inspire/National level qualifying examination or a post graduate degree

Desirable: Experience in density functional theory (DFT) calculations/ Modelling and Simulation/Programming will be preferred, but is not mandatory

Age limit: Must not be over 28 years as on 12th November, 2017 which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India

Salary: Rs. 25000 + HRA (JRF) or Rs. 16000 + HRA (PA)

Project duration: Initially for one year and likely to be extended based on mutual agreement and the performance of the candidate

Last of Receiving Application: On or Before 13th November, 2017

General Terms and Conditions:

The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis, and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of three years. The position is co-terminus with the project. Candidate selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program of INST provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
