Sub:Inviting applications for appointment to the posts of Judicial Members and Expert Members in the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

This Ministry had invited applications for filling up of the vacancies of Judicial Members and Expert Members in the National Green Tribunal as per Advertisement No. 17(42)12016-PL/NGT dated 28.02.2017, Subsequently, decision has been taken to revise the eligibility criteria for Judicial Members and Expert Members.

2.In view of the above, Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for the following vacant posts of Members in the National Green Tribunal, based on the revised eligibility criteria (refe para 6 below):

1. The Tribunal currently has five places of sitting *.e. Delhi, Bhopal, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune. A Member selected may be posted at any one of places of sitting of the Tribunal.
2. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being selected.
3. The Central Government reserves the right to withdraw the advertised posts at any time without assigning any reason and also reserves the right to increase or decrease the vacancies as well as to fill or not to fill the vacant posts and its decision in this regard shall be final.
4. Educational qualifications and eligibility criteria for appointment to the posts of Judicial

Members and Expert Members in the National Green Tribunal: Judicial Member:

(i)A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Judicial Member, unless he,

(a)

is, or has been, or is qualified to be, a Judge of a High Court; or

(b)

has, for at least ten years, held a judicial office in the territory of India. Contd...

Expert Member:

(ii)A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Expert Member, unless he, -

(a)

has a degree/ Post graduation degree/ Doctorate Degree in Science and has an experience of twenty years in the relevant field including five years' practical experience in the field of environment and forests (including pollution control, hazardous substance management, environment impact assessment, climate change management, biological diversity management and forest conservation) in a reputed National level institution; or

(b)

has administrative experience of twenty years including experience of five years in dealing with environmental matters in the Central Government or a State Government or in a reputed National or State level institution.

7.The term of office of the Judicial Members and Expert Members would be Three years and the maximum age for holding office would be Sixty-seven years.

Eligible and interested persons may submit their applications in the prescribed format alongwith all supporting documents (self attested) to Director, Policy and Law Division, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Level -III, Jal Wing, Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, Ali Ganj, Jor Bagh Road, New Delhi-110003 on or before 18th September, 2017 (Monday) upto 5:00 P.M.
   
   
2. Applications which are incomplete or not in the prescribed format or not accompanied with the details as mentioned above may not be entertained and would be liable to be summarily rejected by the Competent Authority.
   
   
3. Applicants who had applied earlier in response to the advertisement dated 28.2.2017 (published on 01.03.2017) need not apply afresh. The Ministry proposes to consider the applications received earlier, unless an applicant desires to withdraw it, which may be communicated on or before 18th September, 2017 (5:00 P.M.).
   
   
4. No TA/DA will be allowed to the candidates to be called for interview. The candidates are required to make their own arrangements.
