Indian Institute of Geomagnetism is a premier research organization having strong research programmes in Geomagnetism and allied fields. The primary research activities of the Institute deal with geophysical processes occurring (1) inside the Earth, primarily in the areas of Electromagnetic Imaging of the Earth's Interior, crustal magnetic anomalies, Palaeo and Environmental Magnetism, Petrology, GPS based crustal deformation studies and Groundwater studies, and (2) external to the Earth, particularly in understanding the behavior of particles, fields and currents in the near space environment, with emphasis on space weather. The candidates may apply on the form downloadable at www.iigm.res.in together with the requisite application fee of Rs. 300/- by crossed demand draft. The prescribed application form can also be obtained from the office of the Registrar, IIG, by paying an application fee of Rs. 300/- by crossed demand draft in favour of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, New Panvel, either in person between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on working days (Monday to Friday) OR it can be obtained by post by sending an application along with the application fee and a self-addressed stamped (for Rs. 10/-) envelope superscribing Request for Application Form. For SC/ST (on production of valid caste certificate) & female candidates, application form will be issued free of cost. Filled in applications should reach the office of the Registrar, IIG, on or before 31.01.2018. Any application received after the due date will be summarily rejected.
General Information (applicable to all candidates):
1) Age and experience will be reckoned as on the last date of application.
2) Reservation and relaxation in age, fees etc. for Persons with Disabilities are as per the Government of India rules.
3) Relaxation in upper age limit up to 5 years may be considered for highly experienced and deserving candidates at the discretion of the appropriate authorities. Relaxation of age limit as per the Govt. of India orders will be available to the respective categories.
4) The new entrants in the services would be governed by the National Pension System.
5) Applications not in the prescribed format and not accompanied by supporting documents like self-attested copies of educational qualifications (from SSC onwards), experience certificate and other material in support of the statements made in the application, will be treated as incomplete and will be summarily rejected.
6) Candidates working in Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies should forward their applications through proper channel. To avoid delay, an advance copy of such application, complete in all respects, may be sent superscribed on the top of the application, ADVANCE COPY.
7) Applications received in response to the advertisement will be scrutinized by a Screening-cum-Selection Committee and only those candidates short-listed by the Committee will be called for written test/interview/skill test, as the case may be. Merely fulfilling the requirements laid down in the advertisement will not automatically entitle any candidate to be called for written test/interview/skill test.
8) Canvassing in any form will be treated as disqualification for the post.
9) No interim enquiries will be entertained
10) The application fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
11) Valid Caste Certificate (in the format of Government of India), Non Creamy Layer Certificate in case of OBC candidates is mandatory.
12) Persons with Disability : Physical Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority
13) Separate application should be submitted for each post.
14) The Institute reserves the right to fix minimum eligibility standard/bench mark and restrict no. of candidates called for written test/skill test/interview taking into account various factors like no. of vacancies, percentage of marks in Graduate / Post Graduate Degrees etc. The Institute also reserves the right to fix minimum eligibility standard/cut-off marks (Group/Stream/Discipline/Category-wise etc.) while finalizing such candidates to be called for written test/skill test/interview as well as selecting the candidates for final selection after written test/skill test/interview as applicable. The decision of the Director, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism in this regard shall be final and binding and no correspondence in this regards will be entertained with the candidates.
15) In case, it is found at any stage of recruitment that the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria and/or the candidate has furnished any incorrect/false/incomplete or has suppressed any material fact(s), his/her candidature will be cancelled. If any shortcoming is detected, even after appointment, the services of the candidate are liable to be terminated forthwith. Therefore, before applying for any post, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility criteria under the norms mentioned in the advertisement.
