Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram is an autonomous Institution under MHRD, GOI imparting research oriented science education of international level. Presently there are about 750 students from various parts of the country are undergoing various courses i.e from BS-MS to PhD.

The Institute invites application in the prescribed format for the following posts on short term contract basis :-

(a) Psychologist

Age: Not exceeding 45 Years.

Qualification & Experience :

MA (Clinical Psychology) (1st Class) with minimum five years experience in group / individual counselling in educational institutions and/or psychological testing in educational institutions or in a reputed mental health clinic/hospital.

OR

PhD/ M Phil in Clinical Psychology (should have first class in preceding degree) with minimum two years experience in group / individual counselling and/or psychological testing in educational institutions or in a reputed mental health clinic/hospital.

Desirable Qualification: Prior Experience as Students Counsellor in centrally funded national level Institutes for higher education in S&T, Teaching experience in a similar institute. Additional qualifications in mental health and counseling is preferable.

Nature of duty: Counselling of students on different challenges faced by them (peer pressure, relationship, academic stress, learning to make decisions, making responsible choices, family related issues, sexuality, identity, beliefs, time management, substance abuse, physically well-being etc..). Psychologist should act as referral to the Administration or Hospital and Interact with the mentoring to develop lines of communication with the student. Carryout awareness and outreach events from time to time.

The Psychologist has to provide the services at the permanent campus in Vithura and/or transit campus in CET Campus, Sreekaryam, Thiruvananthapuram three days in a week as per the schedule decided by the competent authority of the Institute. The psychologist has to provide the counselling services on call basis apart from the fixed days if required on emergency basis.

Pay: Rs.25,000/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of TDS.

a) Psychiatrist

Age: Not exceeding 60 Years.

Qualification & Experience :

MD (Psychiatry) with minimum five years experience in group / individual counselling in educational institutions and/or psychiatric testing in educational institutions or in a reputed mental health clinic/hospital

Desirable Qualification: Prior Experience as Students Counsellor in centrally funded national level Institutes for higher education in S&T, Teaching experience in a similar institute. Additional qualifications in mental health and counseling is preferable.

Nature of duty: Counselling of students referred by Psychologist on different challenges faced by them (peer pressure, relationship, academic stress, learning to make decisions, making responsible choices, family related issues, sexuality, identity, beliefs, time management, substance abuse, physically well-being etc..). Psychiatrist should Interact with Hospital Authorities for further treatment as deemed fit based on his observation. Carryout awareness and outreach events from time to time.
