RECRUITMENT OF PROJECT SCIENTIST-B

PURELY ON TEMPORARY AND SHORT TERM CONTRACT BASIS

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an autonomous research organization fully funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. It is a premier Institute of national and international repute, devoted to research in various aspects of atmospheric sciences with emphasis on tropical meteorology, particularly on the Climate Change, Indian Monsoon and atmospheric Chemistry, etc. It has state-of-the-art advanced infrastructural facilities like High Performance Computer (HPC) systems with 790 TF compute and 6 PB of Storage, state-of-the-art technical IT, Networking, Security & Storage Infrastructures.

It is proposed to recruit one post of Project Scientist-B purely on short-term contract basis initially for a period of one year that is extendable further depending on Performance.

Essential Qualification: A First class M.Tech/M.Sc. or equivalent in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology/Oceanography/Physics/ Geophysics (with Meteorology as one of the subject) from a recognized University/Institution. A minimum of 05 years of experience of research (after Masters degree) in Atmospheric Science or allied fields. Post qualification working experience in High Performance Computing Systems in porting highresolution atmospheric chemical transport model and its related software's/ applications.
Desirable Qualification: Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science with Chemical-transport Modeling would be a desirable qualification. Working knowledge of online atmospheric high-resolution models in nested domain, installation and troubleshooting of such models. Experience in using programming languages (like FORTRAN), shell scripting and UNIX operating system Atmospheric data analysis tools (like GrADS, NCL, CDO etc.) and Emission inventory. Handling of large volume of data and conversant with data format like NetCDF.
Job Responsibilities: The selected candidate has to work on online high resolution regional atmospheric chemistry transport model, development of methodology and parameterization to improve the prediction skill.
Salary (`15,600-39,100) + G.P. ` 5,400/- + D.A. + H.R.A. (Total monthly salary is approximately ` 55,020/-)
