Applications for appointment to the post of Director, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun

The Ministry of Environment & Forests proposes to fill up the post of Director, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, which has fallen vacant with effect from 01.07.2013. Applications from eligible and willing candidates are invited for appointment to the above mentioned post. The particulars of the post are indicated below:

1. Scale of Pay

HAG+ pay scale of Rs.75500-80000 (Annual Increment @ 3%)

By Direct Recruitment/ transfer on deputation

3. Eligibility

Person holding analogous post in the Government/ Research Institutes/ Statutory Bodies.

(The term analogous post implies either the head of an organization/institution/undertaking or a post carrying the same pay scale as that of the Director, WII) OR Person with 02 years of regular service in the grade of HAG (67000-79000) OR Person with 05 years service in PB-4 (3740067000) with Grade Pay of Rs.10000 under Central/ State Government/ Public Sector Undertaking/ Autonomous Bodies / Universities.

4. Essential Qualifications

For Scientists:

Masters degree in Biological Sciences or Wildlife Management from a recognized University/ Institution with 30 years of working experience as Scientists with reference to the date of appointment as Group-A Scientists in the field of research, teaching, management and administrative.

OR

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or Wildlife Sciences from a recognized university/institution with 25 years of working experience as Scientists with reference to the date of appointment as Group-A Scientists in the field of research, teaching, management and administrative.

For IFS Officers:

30 years regular service with reference to the year of allotment and with 15 years experience in Wildlife Management/ Research/ Training.

5. Desirable Qualifications

Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from a recognized university/ institution.

6. Age Limit

Not more than 57 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.

7. Place of Posting

Dehradun, but liable to be posted anywhere in India.

8. Job requirement

To act as Head of the Institute and exercise administrative, financial and academic powers vested in him/her and such other work as may be assigned by the Government/ Wildlife Institute of India Society.

To design, plan and execute various training courses on various aspects of Wildlife, Biology, Management, Extension, etc.

To guide research on various aspects of Wildlife Biology/ Management.

Subject to the rules and regulations bye laws and to any order of the Governing Body, the Director shall be responsible for the administration and management of the Institute under the direction and guidance of the Governing Body.

9. Terms and conditions

Tenure of the post shall normally be three years, and may, on the recommendations of the WII-Society, be extended for such period, as the Society may recommend, but not going beyond the age of superannuation prescribed for Scientific Service of the Institute.

In case of deputation, the period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/ department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 5 years.

The pay admissible while on deputation will be regulated in accordance with the Department of Personnel and Training OM No. AB-14017/2/07-Estt.(RR) dated 29th February 2008 as amended from time to time.

10.Age of superannuation

The Age of superannuation for the post is 60 years.
