APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS FOR THE POST OF DIRECTOR,

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF PLANT GENOME RESEARCH (NIPGR), NEW DELHI

Applications/ Nominations are invited for the post of Director (on deputation including short term contract), National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi, an autonomous research Institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The details of the institute are available on the website: www.nipgr.ac.in . The mandate of NIPGR is to undertake, promote and co-ordinate research of high caliber in basic and applied plant molecular biology, train high qualities human resource and to serve as information hub in identified aspects of plant genetic engineering and genome analysis.

2. Details of the post of Director:

Details of the job and other particulars of the post of Director, NIPGR are given below:

a) The Director is expected to provide both academic and administrative leadership to the Institute in its intramural and extramural activities.

b) The post carries Pay Scale of HAG, 67,000 (annual increment @ 3%) - 79,000 with usual allowances as per Central Government Rules. (The pay structure is based on 6th Central Pay Commission. The pay scale is under revision as per Government of India Orders based on 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations). There shall be flexibility, if need be, to select a candidate at a lower scale of pay in the PB-4 37,400-67,000 + Grade Pay of 10,000/-, on the recommendation of the Search-cum-Selection Committee.

c) Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes, Autonomous Bodies, Government funded Research Organizations/Institutes etc.

(i) Holding analogous post on regular basis in parent Department or

(ii) With 5 years' service in the post with Grade Pay of 10,000 or equivalent in the parent cadre/Department and possess the qualification & experience as below:

Essential

(i) Ph.D. or equivalent in Plant Molecular Biology or related field

(ii) Minimum 15 years research experience in the area of Plant Molecular Biology.

(iii) Outstanding scientific & academic credentials and excellent track record, evidenced by research publications, patents and awards.

Desirable

(i) Experience in successfully running large programme centre, institution

(ii) Experience of guiding research activities in the area of Plant Molecular Biology.

The period of Deputation includes period of deputation in other ex-cadre posts, held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/Department should ordinarily not exceed 5 years. The maximum age limit for appointment (on deputation including short term contract) should not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
