How far would you agree with the view that Romantic critics identify Imagination as the primary creative faculty in human beings, and also advocate the shift from a mimetic to an expressive orientation for poetry Illustrate your answer.
2.
The Industrial Revolution in England is associated with profound economic and social changes. Identify some of these changes, and show how these affected the literature of the Victorian era.
3.
Discuss William Wordsworth as man speaking to well aware of his great task as a guide and prophet.
4.
Take any one novel from either Charles Dickens or George Eliot, and show how it deals with some of the major issues of the Victorian age.

"More and more mankind will discover that we have to turn to poetry to interpret life for us, to console us, to sustain us." Keeping in mind Matthew Arnold's views on Culture in general, comment critically on the role that Arnold envisages for poetry.

Dramatic monologue was the art form best suited to Robert Browning's genius. Discuss and illustrate from any three of Browning's dramatic monologues.

Discuss Lord Tennyson as a representative poet of his times. Would you agree that in his poetry, we get a glimpse of the multiple dimensions of the Victorian age Illustrate your answer.
