a. What is the significance of studying public policy?
b. How is public policy related to governance?
c. What is Harold Lasswell's Stages Model of public policy?
d. What do you mean by policy universe
e. What do you mean by redistributive policies?
f. How do general citizens participate in the policy formulation process?
g. What are the fourteen principles of management prescribed by Henry Fayol?
h. What is rational legal authority and how is it exercised?
i. How is program evaluation different from policy evaluation?
j. What is the significance of process evaluation?
2. What are the important approaches to studying public policy? Discuss a particular
social/economic/political or environmental problem faced by the society and suggest solutions
to the same by adopting the most suitable approach. (Marks 10)
3. "While some policy analysts regard individual and collective actors as important players,
others maintain that what these actors seek and do depends on the political, economic, and
social structures that surround them." In the light of the above statement, discuss the role of
legislatures in policy formulation under different political systems. (Marks 10)
4. "As a crucial stage in the policy process, implementation constitutes the crux. Anything can
happen at this stage, which may even alter the contour and content of public policies." In the
light of the above statement, discuss the critical role bureaucracy plays in policy
implementation. (Marks 10)
5. "Though their participation in the policy process is not ordained by the Constitution or any
other law, unofficial actors play an important role in shaping many of the public policies of a
country." Substantiate. (Marks 10)
6. What is policy evaluation? Discuss the importance of policy evaluation for improving the
quality of implementation. (Marks 10)
