The sanguine Sunrise, with his meteor eyes,
And his burning plumes outspread,
Leaps on the back of my sailing rack,
When the morning star shines dead,
As on the jag of the mountain crag,
Which an earthquake rocks and swings,
An eagle alit one moment may sit
As virtuous men pass mildly away,
And whisper to their souls to go,
Whilst some of their sad friends say
The breath goes now, and some say, No:
So let us melt, and make no noise,

'Twere profanation of our joys
To tell the laity our love.
